DNRS stands for “Dynamic Neural Retraining System”
I had heard and read about the amazing results of this system for many people who have chronic illness, mold illness and multiple chemical sensitivities.
I kept hearing about it but I put off trying for quite some time. Partly due to the price. It’s $250 for a few DVDs.
Eventually, I actually bought it and so far it’s mixed reviews from me.
DNRS is based on the idea that some people have a ‘limbic system impairment.’ This is the brain connection. If your limbic system is stuck in a trauma loop it could seriously impair your cognitive performance.
Production Quality
The production quality is pretty terrible.
Before I explain, I know that this isn’t the most important thing. If it works and helps someone recover from chronic illness then the production quality really doesn’t matter.
That being said, when you pay that much for something like this you expect it to be a higher quality production.
The camera is often out of focus. The cut aways are cheesy. It looks like it was made by a 90s wedding videographer.
Supplemental Videos
Between lessons on the DVD they have multiple supplemental videos to watch. Similar to my last complaint, it seemed like a lot of the program was watching these supplemental videos and the supplemental videos are just youtube videos that are available to everyone.
It just feels like why am I paying this much for so many free youtube videos?
Again, if it works, it’s a moot point. But it’s still annoying…
Half-Way Through Mostly Convincing
So far, I’m about halfway through and it only just started teaching the actions for retraining your limbic system.
Up until now, it’s pretty much entirely been various attempts at convincing the audience that the brain can change and that this method could work.
This makes sense because this whole thing sounds a little woo-woo. Most people will take a lot of convincing before they believe in this enough to actually do the work required.
The Work Required
She keeps repeating that it’s going to take 1 hour of practice for at least 6 months.
What do you actually do?
So far, what you do is a process of changing the way that you think. She’s giving methods of interrupting the limbic system ‘trauma loops.’ It’s kind of like affirmations on steroids. Basically you learn the words and physical movements to make that help to break the loop and create new neural pathways. You also customize it to your own circumstances.
That’s it so far, I haven’t practiced enough to really tell if it works and I’m only about halfway through the DVDs.
